Eighteen months

Someone didn't turn eighteen months today, but posed for his picture. I have been racing around all day getting ready to leave for our Colorado Christmas vacation that starts tomorrow. How can Christmas be this week? All I can say is that I am glad that I got my shopping done really early this year...Dallas traffic is for the birds. Here is my love bug. Shepherd is obsessed with anything that is hot. If it glows, steams, twinkles, whatever...it's apparently hot. In fact "it's hot","isley" (which means Lily) and ball are his three words. I love you Sheppie!

Until next time...

Thankful hopeful joyful

Hey everyone! I can't believe that the last time I posted was on Thanksgiving. Doesn't the holiday season pass by so quickly? How can it already be the 14th? The past few days I have been intentional about slowing my pace and resting in the midst of the chaos of the season. It seems like we have had something almost every night of the week the past two weeks. I did our Christmas card a few days ago. While I was trying to think about what I wanted it to say, I decided that I would pick three things that I was feeling and want to be more like in the next year. So I chose Thankful Hopeful and Joyful.

I received an email today that I believe was sent to me from the Lord. It said this:

"We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield.
In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name.
Let Your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in You alone."
Psalm 33: 20-22
Father, give us the grace to trust You, so that we will be free from our fears and worries. As we look to You for help, we are promised that we will become radiant with joy.  Surround and defend us today with Your angels. Help us to believe that You will supply our need according to Your riches in glory. Just as you supplied the oil for the fire on the altar for the Israelites, You will give us the oil of Your Spirit that we need for this day. May we use this oil to bring Your hope to others today. Let our hearts rejoice that Christ in us is our hope of glory! Glory to God in the highest!

Radiant with joy! What a promise. That is what I want to be. Come Lord Jesus, my hope is in you alone. Slow my pace and make me joyful this day because of what you have done for me. Thank you for leaving your throne to by my substitution.

Until next time...

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I heard a quote not long ago that I have thought about a lot about ever since. It went something like this...

"What if you woke up today with only what you thanked the Lord for yesterday"?

This has changed the way that I think in remembering all that I am thankful and joyful for. Thank you my Lord and Savior for all that you have blessed me with.

I hope that you and your families are having the most fabulous day. We made it home last night and it has been so wonderful. I'm sitting here with Kirk and Lily with a mimosa in hand. I wonder if Shep is going to wake up in time for the dinner.

Until next time...

Ode to gold

Oh how I love gold! I can't believe I have dedicated a post to gold until now. Some people are afraid to decorate with gold. I guess I can see why. If it isn't done correctly, it can look not so great. But, if done just right, it adds a great sense of glamour and regency. Here are some photos of all types of lovely ways that gold is used. Enjoy!

Little monster

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Ours was really full, but really good. I decided to make my version on a monster t-shirt for Shepherd during his nap and the Razorback game on Saturday. First of all, can you believe those Hogs?!! Woo pig sooie!! Here is how it turned out on my little model.
ps. Applique is so fun!

Here are two finds that I got this past Saturday when we stopped at a garage sale that we saw on our way to a birthday party. Gotta love the sales you stumble upon!

I love the foo dog lamp...so popular right now. I'll have to find a shade for it. The one it came with was so revolting that I immediately had to throw it away.

I love vintage baskets. This one looked just like the baskets that we used to put our clothes in at the pool I went to as a kid. Perfect for Shep's toys.

After doing one applique shirt, I am hooked. Here is the t-shirt that I just finished for Shepherd to wear Friday for the big Arkansas vs. LSU game. Go Hogs Go!

Applique interest

Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you all are enjoying this Friday. What are your plans for this weekend? I feel like our calendar is filling up faster than I'd like with the holidays approaching. I really love parties and get togethers, but we have had something to do every night the past few weeks. And I am starting to get exhausted before the holidays are even upon us! So, what do I do? Start a new project of course! I have been wanting to make Shepherd some appliqued t-shirts for a while now. I've been patiently waiting for my promotional-product-company-owner-husband to get me some free samples for weeks now. But, he's extremely busy, so I went out and bought a few yesterday. Here are a few shirts that have given me inspiration.

Easy peasy. Pics to come when completed.

Until next time....

Thirty and Seventeen

Yep, that's me. A week ago I turned the big 3-0. I still feel like I'm in college, so I am not worried a bit about my thirties. Goodbye my lovely twenties! I won't miss you a bit...well, maybe a little.

My little toot also had a landmark on my big day. Somebody is seventeen months old now. These days Shepherd in all about cleaning. He loves wipes, brooms and the miniature vacuum cleaner at church. I just bought him a toy broom for Christmas yesterday...don't tell him. He says ball, moo, woof woof, ma ma and da da. But, his favorite word is dooad. When I ask him if he is ready for breakfast (or any meal for that matter), he runs over to his high chair and tries to climb it.  He loves bath time and enjoys his turtle and pulling the plug. Shep is a very good eater, which just so happens to run in the family. I love you my little honeybee...there are no words.

This was me at Shepherd's age. Any resemblance?
