Cheap thrills

Happy hump day everyone. I am sorry that I failed to post the past two days. Monday was a blur and Tuesday I had mother's co op over here...so a post just wasn't happening.  I thought that I would start a new regular post about the goodies that I find at estate sales/thrift stores. This is my absolute favorite thing to do. There is something so exciting to me about venturing out with the possibility of finding something amazing for nothing. So, here is my first entry and a few pictures of what I have found in the last week. I have to warn you...I really scored last Saturday. This woman did not even realize what she had, poor thing.

To my utter disbelief, I found this upholstered headboard for $10.00. Ten dollars! I almost peed my pants. She needs a little TLC, but I love here just the way she is.

She also sold me this tortoise shell bracelet for $1.00...been wanting one of those too.

Today I headed to the Oak Cliff Salvation Army. I found these beautiful ostridge heals. I especially love the shape of the heal and the gold accent.  $5.00

A funky winter fedora...$3.50 Don't worry, it's already been lysoled and febreezed.

I needed a medium thickness brown belt. $2.50

I can't wait until Friday and Saturday morning! I'll keep you posted.

Amen to that, sister.
Until tomorrow...

Thankful hearts are beautiful

Happy Friday everyone...we made it! I am reading a new book that I wanted to share with all of you. It is called "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp.

Have you read it? It is amazing. I am a bit of a skeptic by nature. I wish I wasn't. I am. When people tell me to read a book, all of the sudden I no longer want to. I think I fear that my expectations won't be met. This book won't let you down. It is all about learning to be thankful to God in each moment. To learn that there is joy and eucharistia (thanksgiving) that can be found at all times. While I'm changing a nasty diaper, I can be thankful. When my refrigerator goes out, I can be joyful. Even in harder, really hard times. The Lord is faithful and is a well of joy that He longs to give to us if we notice Him. Remember Him.  It is possible, this I am learning.

"When I give thanks for the seemingly microscopic, I make a place for God to grow within me."
— Ann Voskamp

I so want to let this seep into my heart. To learn to be more thankful and therefore more joyful to the Lord who is the only way that I will be truly happy. I think that delights Him, so He might just continue to work that out in me. I too am going to begin to make an ongoing list of what I am thankful for. And I think that I am going to make this sign. And then be thankful that I can create, that I have two hands and a kitchen to put it in.

Until Monday...

Craspedia aka Pom Pom Flowers

Hey everyone and a happy Tuesday to you. Isn't it weird how sometimes you will see something that you like that you've never been interested in before and then suddenly you see it everywhere? Does this happen to anyone else?! Well, it happens to me all the time. The latest happening is with Craspedia flowers...sometimes called Billy Balls. I love them because they are so cheerful and happy. Here are a few pictures of them that I love. Just wait...you'll want to get some yourself and you'll begin to see them everywhere. Enjoy!

My Perfect Day

Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you all had wonderful weekends. My boys were sick pretty much the whole weekend...fun huh? In the midst of all of our misery, I daydreamed about what would be my perfect day if I could do anything. I thought about long and hard and came up with the this. Enjoy!

Wake up with Kirk in this room in Paris...

Eat breakfast here with bottomless mimosas...

Walk along the Paris flea markets and find my dream chairs...
Get lost in the Louvre for few hours...

Eat lunch somewhere like this...

Spend the afternoon laying out here...

Show off my new tan at dinner here...

Spend the night here on the porch...probably not in Paris, but you get the idea...

Pretty wonderful. What would be your perfect day?

Until tomorrow...

Lovely lighting

Fix your eyes on these great light fixtures that I have been collecting for a while. I think that I really pay attention to light fixtures a.) because I'm not in love with the one in our place and b.) because they make such a statement in a room. So many rooms could be instantly updated with a new and improved light fixture. What's your's like? Enjoy!

Dorothy Draper chests

Hey guys, happy Friday! What are you all up to this weekend? We don't have much going on and it is kind of nice.
I don't know about you, but I'm been seeing these Dorothy Draper chests all over the place in the past year. I don't normally like blake furniture, but I really like these...especially the last one in turquoise. Enjoy!
